You asked for it, so we've added it...a hit counter.
We've set up the counter so it tracks the number of times the blog is viewed. This number includes both new and repeat visits.
We did not track hits prior to today, so we do not have statistics on how many people have visited us since we began this blog in mid-May.
UPDATE: We are surprised!!! The number of visits to this blog in just over 24 hours has far exceeded our expectations. As of Wednesday evening, we have had (as best we can tell) a total of 147 individual visitors. We are basing this on our analysis of what are called "first time" visitors.
PRIVACY DISCLOSURE: The hit counter on our blog uses a "cookie" to indicate whether a visitor is new or returning. Several readers have asked if the counter enables us to identify who is visiting. We want to assure our readers that we are not able to identify who they are--you are anonymous to even us unless you choose to identify yourself when you make a comment.
Our purpose in putting up this blog is to provide a free and open venue for discussion to all those who have an interest in the future of Alfred State College. It is our commitment to maintain an environment in which anonymous statements can be freely posted.
Given the Stalinist atmosphere that has developed at ASC under the leadership of Uma Gupta and Bob Albrecht, we understand the concerns individuals at the college may have if they are identified as having read "forbidden" information.
We have provided information on removing cookies from your computer if you have concerns that Deb Putnam's minions will be asked to start monitoring people's hard drives. That information is in the comments for this post.
